Speaker Bio

Katherin Crossling, Esq., is an experienced litigator with a background in the sciences who defends physicians, medical groups, and institutions in complex high exposure medical malpractice cases. She has successfully defended a variety of cases including sepsis resulting in quadrilateral amputation, geriatric care, Ob/Gyn care and more. In 2023, she was named as a SuperLawyer and from 2015-2018 was a Rising Star. In 2022, she received the Kay Crawford Murray award from NYSBA for commitment to diversity in the legal profession and the professional development of women attorneys. She serves as Co-Director of the HPMB Mentor Program and the HPMB Academy.

Doreen Dufficy, Esq., defends hospitals, physicians, and other health care providers in medical malpractice actions and federal civil rights actions. She also handles matters relating to Mental Hygiene Law, Assisted Outpatient Treatment, treatment over objection, and the Family Health Care Decisions Act. Prior to HPM&B, Doreen was a staff attorney for a large Health Network located in Brooklyn and Queens including three non-for-profit hospitals, two nursing homes, a prominent physician’s group, and various affiliated for-profit and non-for-profit entities. She has experience in handling litigation involving medical malpractice, labor and employment, commercial litigation, nursing homes, general liability, risk management, and corporate compliance.
