Drawing actionable and predictive insights from risk and safety data is the holy grail of clinical risk management. The trouble is, these data sources provide an incomplete picture of the factors that foment litigation. The result is that too many risk mitigation initiatives fail because they mischaracterize the problem or garner too little frontline support.
Design Thinking is a human-centered approach to solving problems that have established itself as an effective strategy for organizations seeking to captivate their customers and drive program value. As a complement to our traditional tools, it has significant applications for the way we interpret data, identify risk mitigation opportunities, and how we implement solutions that stick.
Learning Objectives:
- Define the key principles of design thinking.
- Describe the designer’s approach to actioning risk and safety data.
- Identify opportunities to adopt a designer’s mindset in current practice.
