Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management Exam Prep Course

 

The Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) Exam Prep Course is ASHRM's most popular CPHRM study resource. 

This course provides an opportunity to review each of the exam domains and prepare for the CPHRM exam. Our faculty designed this course for those who already meet the qualifications to sit for the exam and who are familiar with the CPHRM material at a foundational level. 

This course is offered in 3 modalities: 

 

In-Person Course

in-Person - ASHRM Academy

March 17-22, 2025

This modality offers the highest level of faculty support; attendees will attend a 2 day in-person course where they will work with faculty and other participants to review the exam material. 13 ASHRM CEs and Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)

This is a study at your own pace option, learners will have access to videos and study materials for one year in our LMS. 12.25 ASHRM CEs and Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)

Live Virtual Programs

Summer Program: July 7–August 15
Fall Program: October 13–November 21

This is a hybrid option which includes asynchronous videos, discussion boards, and assignments in our LMS and weekly live calls with our faculty. 14.5 ASHRM CEs and Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)

Who should take ASHRM’s CPRHM Exam Prep Course?

We recommend those who meet the eligibility criteria and who already hold a foundational knowledge of the testing material to complete this course. 

ASHRM recommends completing the Health Care Risk Management (HRM) Certificate Program to review the foundational exam material.

Eligibility for the examination requires ONE of the following AND meeting the requirement for risk management experience:

Education/Health Care Experience

  • Baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited college or university plus five (5) years of experience in a health care setting or with a provider of services to the health care industry.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited college plus seven (7) years of experience in a health care setting or with a provider of services to the health care industry.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus nine (9) years of experience in a health care setting or with a provider of services to the health care industry.

Risk Management Experience

  • 3,000 hours or 50 percent of full-time job duties within the last three years dedicated to health care risk management in a health care setting or with a provider of services (e.g. consultant, broker, or attorney) to the health care industry.

CPHRM Exam content is based on ASHRM’s job analysis survey done every 3-5 years. Subject areas include:
