Description
The Patient Safety Structural Measures (PSSMS) are part of the Inpatient Prospective Payment System, which pays hospitals to report on the quality of care provided. Hospitals that do not meet the measures could receive a reduction in their annual percentage payment increase. Risk, Patient Safety, and Quality will need to work seamlessly to authentically meet the intent of the PSSMS.
Boil down the salient points of the Patient Safety Structural Measures domains and attestations for Risk Professionals to identify how their organization can meet the measure domains and attestations. Review the Patient Safety Structural Measures domains and attestations. Identify potential opportunities and roadblocks for organizations to meet the new measurements while gaining tools to overcome them. Utilize the Patient Safety Structural Measures to demonstrate the value of the Risk Professional to senior leadership.
