White Paper: Recognizing and Managing Bias in the Ambulatory Health Care/Outpatient Setting
In the first installment of our Managing Bias white paper series, Recognizing and Managing Bias in the Ambulatory Health Care Setting, we explore the role of implicit and unconscious bias as barriers to quality care in ambulatory and outpatient settings. This white paper examines real-world scenarios to highlight how these biases can influence patient outcomes and retention, offering insights into their impact on care delivery and strategies for addressing them.
In the other two papers, Recognizing and Managing Bias in the Inpatient Health Care Setting and Recognizing and Managing Bias in Digital Health, we examine how unconscious beliefs shape interactions and outcomes in various health care environments.
Together, these papers offer health care organizations and risk professionals a roadmap for understanding and addressing bias across diverse care environments, ultimately improving patient safety and equity.
